Full Length Bio
Kyle Angilletta is a jazz drummer, world-class marching percussionist, and active music educator based out of Phoenix, Arizona! He has a rich background in music of all genres: starting his studies of rock drumming at the age of ten and his lifelong journey in jazz music by the age of 12. Truthfully, rhythm has always ruled Kyle’s world, and from the time he picked up his first pair of headphones he was immersed with the mesmerizing grooves of Jazz, Latin, Blues, Rock, R&B, Neo Soul, Indie Alternative, Experimental Bass, and every other sound under the sun. This expansive range of music culminates in an authentic, in-the-moment type of feel behind his instrument. Every rhythmic flow Angilletta creates is informed by the creativity of ALL music and ALL mediums.
Originally born in Terre Haute, Indiana, Kyle had a pleasant upbringing and remembers early experiences with the profound impacts of music. Whether it was enjoying the soothing melodies of the folk singers who lived next door or being sat behind the drumset they briefly stored for a family friend while he was a baby, the importance of these moments are not lost on him. Kyle and his family would relocate to Phoenix, Arizona in 2010 where he would experience the majority of his childhood.
In Arizona, Kyle was presented with many musical opportunities. After enjoying the entertainment of the local HS marching band that his sister participated in for many years, he realized the incessant rhythms of the drums spoke to him. This realization also came alongside a not so gentle nudge from his father, Michael, who was reminiscing on his (at the time) unfulfilled childhood desires to be a drummer. By the age of ten, Angilletta would be in percussion lessons with a local music teacher and his parents would buy him his first drumset a year later at 11. From that point on, he never looked back; being assigned Miles Davis solos to transcribe on his bell kit and rudimental drumming work to strengthen his technique.
Kyle continued with percussion lessons and participated in his middle school and high school concert bands, orchestras, marching bands, jazz bands, small/large percussion ensembles, steel drum bands… you name it! During this time he would continue to excel as a drumset player/jazz musician and became acquainted with Dom Moio, local legend and jazz drumming virtuoso. Dom would start to put Kyle on a serious path towards a career in music; helping him master the essential styles, coordination, techniques, and energy it takes to play the instrument.
Angilletta also developed his skills as a marching snare drummer, first by joining his high school marching band, then ultimately participating in WGI with Vision Percussion starting in 2019 until 2023. In 2021, he earned a contract with The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps, a world-class organization from Tempe, AZ. Kyle would go on to tour the country and compete in DCI with the group for the next 4 summers, leading the drumline as section leader in 2023 and 2024. During these summers he received the accolades of 2023 Academy Member of The Year and the 2024 Outstanding Percussion Member.
From 2021-2025, Angilletta attended Arizona State University where he earned his B.M. in Jazz Performance as well as a minor in Business. At ASU he was able to foster many pivotal connections and receive education from some of the finest jazz musicians today! These musicians include: Michael Kocour, Jeff Libman, Corcoran Holt, Dom Moio, Robby Carrillo, and Clark Gibson. Most importantly, Kyle has been honored to study with one of the greatest jazz drummers in history, Lewis Nash, since 2023!
Kyle is currently working as an independent drummer, music educator, and recording for local artists in the Phoenix area.
